WebTec’s Top 10 from 2015
We do our best to reach out to everyone several times throughout the year, but if we missed you or if you missed us, here are WebTec’s top 10 of 2015!
1. Responsive Design
The term “responsive” simply means that your website adapts to any device and automatically adjusts fonts, images, menu’s, and much more. It doesn’t matter whether you are on a mobile phone, tablet, or desktop. This is so important because it enhances user experience. User experience is crucial because mobile traffic has now surpassed desktop traffic and Google gives a boost to websites that are optimized for mobile devices. There’s so much more to discuss on this topic, however we only have so much space. If you don’t have a responsive website yet, you are going to get passed up! Talk to us as soon as possible!
2. Local SEO Part 1 – Google Business Page
Local SEO is one of the hottest topics in the web industry and we are dedicating 3 of our top 10 items to bring you what we feel is most important.
Local SEO all starts with your Google Business page. You may have noticed that Google is now showing a very prominent map with 3 local businesses whenever a local search is completed. Want to show up on there too? You need a Google Business page if you don’t have one already. Make sure that everything on your Google page is up to date because multiple other sites pull from your Google Business page.
3. Local SEO Part 2 – Reviews
Once you start showing up on Google maps, you will realize that companies have 1-5 star ratings left by customers. You better believe that everyone, including Google, puts high value in these ratings. Ask your happy customers to leave you reviews!
4. Local SEO Part 3 – Yelp, and other local sites
Ever hear of Yelp? We hope so! Apple Maps now pulls all their company data from them! Yelp is one of the top 10 most visited websites and they are all looking for businesses. Rinse and repeat steps 1 and 2 on your Yelp page and make sure it’s up to date.
Yelp and Google are the 2 biggest local sites to be included on, in our opinion, but if you want to take it a step further, we have software that will push your company information out to over 100 different local listing websites. These are well known websites such as Yellow Pages, Foursquare, Bing, Trip Advisor, and many more. Give us a call today to discuss this further!
5. SEO – Link Building
We are very big advocators for SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and we optimize every website that we build. Often times, however, that’s not enough. Google values the amount of inbound links that you have coming to your website and often this makes a difference on your Google ranking. The truest answer we can give you on how to gain more links would be to provide quality content to your visitors, however, there are other strategies we can use to grow the links. If you want to pick our brain, give us a call or reach out to us.
6. Google Adwords
Google Adwords works and if you aren’t on there yet, you better believe your competitors are, and they are stealing business from you! It is very effective advertising. Many people, especially the older generations, do not even realize that the first 3 listings on any Google search are paid Ads by Google. If your campaign isn’t optimized, you are more than likely wasting a lot of money. You can limit your ads to only display in your target locations, add a phone number to mobile ads, add negative keywords to ensure you aren’t displaying for searches not related to your industry and so much more. Let us know if you want more information.
7. Email Campaigns
Email campaigns are a great way to touch base with clients and customers. Some companies are a little over the top with daily emails but we recommend monthly or bi-monthly emails to keep that personal touch through connecting. Mailchimp is a free program that is very easy to configure and use. It is what we used to send this very email 🙂 In our opinion, the greatest benefit of email campaigns is simply touching each client and customer. It lets them know you are still around and also gives them a subtle reminder to think of you the next time they need your product or service.
8. Google Analytics
Google Analytics is one of the most underrated and under used tools out there. This tracks a LOT of information about the people visiting your website. This can be anything from whether they are on a mobile phone or desktop to how they found you (Google, Referral, Social Media, etc). It also shows what your bounce rate is, which is the amount of people that visit your home page and leave. So much information can be gathered from these statistics to improve your customer or client experience. Guess what the best part is though?! We track analytics on every website that we host! So just ask us for the reports. We can even email them to you on a monthly basis.
9. Social Media
Social Media is always a hot topic and while it has its place, very often it is misused. You have to keep in mind most people use Facebook for their personal lives and unless what you have to offer is of value to them, they probably don’t care. So our recommendation to all our clients is to post infrequently and provide value. Again, we offer the same advice as with the email campaigns, just use it to touch people and remind them you are around. So for instance, if you are a landscaper, use it to provide timely valuable information such as spring cleanup ideas or rose pruning tips.
10. Copywriting
We get asked a LOT about copywriting and we just wanted to let you know that we do have a copywriter available here at WebTec. Typically, no one wants to spend the time to write their marketing material or website information. That’s what we have our copywriter for! Don’t hesitate to ask!
We hope 2015 has been as good of a year for you as it has been for us! We look forward to 2016 and wish you nothing but the best!
Chris & Corey
