Which Social Media Marketing Websites Should You Be Using?

Social media websites are playing a bigger role than they ever have in regards to SEO. Google and other search engines are giving a little bit more priority to companies who are more engaged with their customers/followers and have up to date information on their social media sites. Let’s go through a few of the popular social media sites and show you why you should be using them.

Google+, Google Local, or Google My BusinessCincinnati Social Media Marketing
The official name has changed a few times over the past few years, so we’ve included them all. Google, of course, places a high priority on their own social media website so we will discuss it first. If you’ve ever noticed, when doing a Google search, there are about eight to ten listings that are next to a map. These are the top eight to ten local listings that Google feels are relevant to your search. Having your Google+ page verified and up to date is a high priority if you want to show up in this spot. It also helps if you have all the other information filled out including hours of operation, services offered, company description, reviews, and much more. As far as ranking order, this is another formula that Google does not release to the public. In our opinion though, having your business verified, up to date information that matches and is relevant to your website, and adding a Google+ icon/link to your website definitely helps.

Facebook
Again, Google doesn’t release their formula for rankings to the public, but it’s believed by a lot of people that the amount of people that like your company Facebook page and the amount of people that share your Facebook posts definitely plays a role in search engine rankings. So it’s our opinion that you should definitely have a Facebook presence and provide information that is of value to the people that are following you. That’s easier said than done for some businesses but every industry has customers that are buying your product or service that could use valuable information.

Twitter
Just like Facebook, Twitter plays a role in the SEO game as well. The amount of tweets, retweets, and followers shows Google that you are an active company. We do believe that if all else were equal and you had fifty tweets and your competitor had five tweets that you would rank ahead of them. We feel twitter is very similar to Facebook in regards to sharing quality content. Twitter is limited on the amount of space you have, but you can always use links and short brief sentences to get the point across.

Other Websites
While we do realize there are many other social media websites out there, we feel that these three play the biggest role in SEO and that you should definitely take advantage of them. Also, a lot of directory type websites are now implementing social aspects such as Yellow Pages, Yelp, BBB, Angie’s List, and more. Basically, any sort of social media or directory website is going to add to your SEO. The more your name is out there and the more content you provide, the more relevant you become on Google searches.

What you have to keep in mind while deciding what websites you are going to take advantage of is time. You have to run your business while also managing all these social media websites. We come into the picture when you can’t dedicate the time any longer that’s needed to maintain your social media marketing.
