Google’s Latest Update – Mobile Optimization
As of April 21st, 2015 Google will now be factoring into their mobile ranking criteria whether your website is mobile optimized or not. One of the Google webmasters wrote:
“…we will be expanding our use of mobile-friendliness as a ranking signal. This change will affect mobile searches in all languages worldwide and will have a significant impact in our search results. Consequently, users will find it easier to get relevant, high-quality search results that are optimized for their devices.”
What does this mean for you?
I think you will be surprised by the amount of traffic that is coming to your website via mobile devices. I would venture to say most websites fall into the range of anywhere from 25% to 40% of total traffic that is mobile. I’ve seen some higher and some lower but most fall into that range. So if you were considering a re-design, now is definitely the time to consider building a responsive website and it will definitely give you an edge over your competition as far as mobile searches go.
