Then every time you have some news or a special going on, you can send out a free message to hundreds even thousands of customers.

Unique and Timely Posts

Not only do you not want to overwhelm your followers with tweet after tweet or status update after status update, but you also want to make sure what you write is interesting and unique so that they want to see a message from you. You want customers to see your company logo and immediately want to read what you have to say. The only way this will happen is if you only post interesting messages that they can't find anywhere else.
